Rates


Residential:

Greeneville Light & Power System customers are fortunate to have very low rates compared with other TVA customers.  Of 158 power companies served by TVA, 80% have higher rates!  Our residential customers pay a customer charge of $10.27 per month plus 7.023 cents per kilowatt hour (KWH).  

Example:

After reading the electric meter it was found that a residential customer had used 1800 KWHs.  Their electric bill would be:
$10.27 Customer Charge
$126.41 Energy charge (1800 X 0.07023)
$136.68 Total Electric Bill

General Power:

General Power customers (most other customers that are not residential) pay a customer charge of $14.50 per month plus 8.014 cents, > 50KW, customer charge $30.00 per month 8.014 cents per KWH up to 15,000 KWH. There is also a demand charge of $11.34 per KW for each over 50.  Any customer with a demand greater than 1000 KW should call our office for rate details.  General power customers also pay Tennessee state sales tax that is not included in these examples.  Contact our office for details.

Example 1:

After reading the electric meter it was found that a general power customer had used 6000 KWHs and had a demand of 30KW.  Their electric bill would be:
$14.50 Customer Charge
$480.84 Energy charge (6000 X 0.08014)
$495.34 Charges for Electricity

Example 2:

After reading the electric meter it was found that a general power customer had used 25,000 KWHs and had a demand of 67 KW.  Their electric bill would be:
$30.00 Customer Charge
$1202.10 Energy charge (15,000 X 0.08014)
$429.80 Energy charge (10,000 X 0.04298)
$192.78 Demand Charge (67-50 X $11.34)
$1854.68 Charges for Electricity
